Alaskan Reindeer

Price:

$16,000

(including trophy fee, no size limit)

This is one of the best values you will find anywhere on the globe, as it presents a very real chance of harvesting a 400+ inch animal (and some much, much larger) in a remote corner of the world that few people ever have the opportunity to visit. We're booking on behalf of the reindeer managers of the local Aleut tribal organization, who will host and guide you on your trip. The animals harvested are generally much larger than those taken by other operations, at a considerably lower price.

Though they are the same species as caribou, these animals are referred to as reindeer due to their reintroduction from Siberia to the islands of the Aleutian chain over a century ago. Since then, they’ve formed a wild, free-ranging herds renowned for their unmatched trophy quality and population density. Reindeer have the largest antler-to-body size ratio of any species, and these islands are home to some of the largest-racked specimens in existence. We were blessed to take the pending world record free range reindeer by a margin of over 80 inches in 2025, with an astounding score of 647 SCI (pictured here in the first photo).

The Experience

A controlled quota ensures the herd remains healthy and prevents overpopulation, preserving the islands' ecosystem. You'll be pursuing a mature, old bull of exceptional size — a worthy quarry that presents both challenge and reward.

We are advertising this trip on behalf of the local Alaska Native tribe, and it will take place on Native lands, fully authorized by the official tribal organization. DIY hunts are unfortunately no longer permitted in this location, ensuring that everything is conducted through proper channels with an experienced local Native guide.

Because the reindeer were originally imported to tribal lands as part of a food initiative for the natives, they are legally considered livestock by the state of Alaska, owned by the tribe. Therefore, you will not need a hunting license or tag in order to pursue them. However, they can be very smart and wary.

While we can potentially accommodate those looking to take one with a bow, your odds of getting within bow range are not high. We have run a 100% opportunity rate with rifles though. You’ll navigate the rugged terrain on four-wheelers to locate herds, followed by a strategic stalk on foot for the final approach. Shots have ranged from 110 to 450 yards, with the average distance being about 240 yards.

Methods:

Rifles are recommended for the best chances of success in the open, windy landscape. You can give it a try with a bow (please let us know in advance), but you’ll want a rifle as a backup plan. Reindeer tend to clump up in tight herds of vast numbers even more than their inland North American counterparts, so you’ll have a lot of eyes on you. Hunts are adaptable for various fitness levels and experience.

Unique Advantages

No Caribou Tag Required.
Since these reindeer are managed by native tribes and not regulated as game by the state of Alaska, no caribou tag is needed — saving you an extra $800 compared to traditional caribou hunts.

World Class Animals
You won't find another operation that can put you on caribou or reindeer this large with this level of consistency.
